Tuyo Review: Is the $10 Invite Voucher and Buy Now, Pay Maybe Card Worth It?
Tuyo reviewed: how the self-custodial USDC Visa card and interest-earning Cash work, the $10 invite voucher after five card purchases, the 1% fees outside the US, Buy Now, Pay Maybe, where it's available and who should skip it.

Best for
People outside Tuyo's excluded countries, especially in the US (outside the 25 excluded states and territories) and Latin America, who want digital dollars they control with a Visa card to spend them, and who will make five ordinary card purchases anyway.
A good spending app with a small but real welcome bonus. Join through our @jimm invite, get the card and make five purchases with it, and Tuyo adds a $10 voucher that pays toward later card purchases; it can't be withdrawn. The card is free and costs nothing on US dollar purchases in the US, but outside the US every purchase pays a 1% fee and a non-dollar purchase another 1%, so $500 of euro spending in Europe costs $10, the whole voucher. Buy Now, Pay Maybe sometimes makes a purchase free, at Tuyo's discretion and with no published odds: enjoy it, don't spend for it. Check the country lists first: the UK, mainland China, India, Nigeria, Vietnam and 22 other countries are excluded, and the card can't be issued in 25 US states and territories.

- Interest strategies lend through third-party vaults: not deposits, not insured, and returns can be negative
- Virtual card only for now; the physical card is still coming

What Tuyo is
Tuyo is an app from Tuyo Inc. that combines Cash (digital dollars and euros), a Visa card, transfers and investments, and says it has more than 100,000 users. It is not a bank, an exchange or a custodian: your money sits in a self-custodial smart account on the Base network, and Tuyo keeps no copy of your private key. Deposits, withdrawals and bank account numbers go through regulated partners, and a third-party issuer provides the card; Tuyo's international cardholder agreement names Third National as that issuer.
You can add money with Apple Pay, a debit or credit card, a linked US bank account, USD, EUR or MXN bank transfers, Coinbase or any crypto wallet. Tuyo accepts deposits on Base, Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain and Polygon; tokens sent on any other network, such as Optimism, won't appear in the app.
The Tuyo Card: fees and limits
The card is a virtual Visa for now (Tuyo says the physical card is coming soon) and works with Apple Pay and Google Pay, though Apple or Google can refuse to add it after their own risk checks. There's no issuance, monthly or yearly fee and no fee on US dollar purchases in the US. Outside the US the card provider charges 1% on every purchase, and any purchase in a currency other than dollars pays a 1% FX fee, so the most you pay on one purchase is 2%.
New cards can spend up to $50,000 a day, rising to $100,000 after $50,000 of total purchases and to $200,000 after $100,000. At Visa ATMs you choose Credit and enter your PIN: each withdrawal is capped at $250 including the operator's surcharge, and you get three attempts in any rolling 24 hours, declined ones included. The card spends USDC on Base held in Cash; other tokens need converting first.
The invite: a $10 voucher after five purchases
Open Tuyo through our link and the invite code jimm attaches itself; if the app asks who invited you, enter @jimm. Tuyo's July 2026 update spells out the deal: when an invited friend joins and makes five purchases with their card, both get a $10 voucher to spend with the Tuyo Card, and the app tracks each step. Tuyo's terms let it set and vary the activation steps by user and country, so the checklist in your app is the one that counts.
The voucher is card credit, not cash. It can't be transferred or withdrawn, applies only to eligible Tuyo Card purchases, keeps any unused part for later, can be combined with other vouchers on one purchase and is forfeited if the account closes. Accounts created before 28 July 2026, or that already have an invite code saved, can't qualify. Tuyo can withhold or claw back vouchers for self-referrals, multiple accounts or traded invites.
Disclosure: @jimm is our own invite, so when your invite succeeds Tuyo gives us a $10 voucher too.
What the voucher is worth: a worked example
In the US, paying in dollars, five ordinary $20 purchases cost nothing in card fees, and the $10 voucher then covers part of your next purchases: a 10% return on the first $100 you spend. That's where the invite works hardest.
Abroad the sums shrink. The same five $20 purchases in pesos in Mexico pay 2% each, $2 in all, so the voucher nets $8. And $500 of non-dollar spending outside the US costs $10 in fees, the whole voucher. Fuel stations can also hold $175 on the card until the final amount settles, so keep a buffer in Cash.
Buy Now, Pay Maybe
Buy Now, Pay Maybe means Tuyo can decide, at or around the moment you pay, not to take some or all of a card purchase from your wallet, sometimes down to $0. The merchant still gets paid in full and Tuyo absorbs the difference. There's no opt-in, no enrolment and no minimum spend, and Tuyo's terms say nothing you do can make it more likely.
Tuyo publishes no odds and promises nothing: frequency and eligibility are at its sole discretion, can differ between users and over time, and it can exclude merchants, merchant categories and transaction types. The feature is run by Tuyo Inc. alone, not the card issuer or Visa, and isn't offered where the law prohibits it, including some US states. A voucher can apply to the same purchase, and the two together never make you pay more than the price.
Cash, interest and investing
Dollars in Cash can earn interest if you pick a strategy, and they stay spendable by card. The strategies lend your dollars through third-party vaults, interest is reduced by a fee, and the rate floats: tuyo.com showed up to 4.0% APY on 24 October 2026. Tuyo is plain about the risk: returns can be negative, strategies aren't bank deposits or covered by deposit insurance, and withdrawals from a strategy can be delayed.
Trading costs a 0.25% volume fee (or the network fee, if that's higher during congestion); bridging and swaps between stablecoins skip it. Money in Investments, such as bitcoin, ether or DeFi strategies, has to be moved back to Cash before the card can spend it.
Where Tuyo works
Three checks decide whether you can use it. First, the platform: 27 countries are excluded outright, including the UK, mainland China, India, Nigeria, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam. Second, the card: residents of Israel and Nicaragua can use the app but can't get the card, and card payments are blocked in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Ukraine and Venezuela.
Third, US residents: the card can't be issued in Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, DC, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands. Your verified residence decides, not the country you log in from, and passing all three checks still isn't approval: a card application marked rejected is final.
Custody, recovery and protection
Tuyo's terms call the service purely non-custodial: you alone hold the keys, and a card rejection never changes your control over the wallet. Your recovery phrase restores the signer that controls your Tuyo smart account (a ZeroDev Kernel account on Base); importing it into the Tuyo app is the normal way back in, and Tuyo publishes a technical guide for moving funds without the app if you ever need to.
Self-custody cuts both ways. Lose or expose the phrase, or send to the wrong network, and the loss can be permanent; Tuyo can't reverse blockchain transactions. Funds backing the card can sit in a separate collateral contract, and pulling them out without Tuyo cancels every card you hold. Nothing in Tuyo is a deposit covered by the FDIC or any other insurance scheme, and you must be 18 or over.
What users say
On 24 October 2026 Tuyo scored 4.4 from 134 ratings on the US App Store and 4.0 from 341 reviews on Google Play, where it has more than 10,000 downloads. Fans like the quick transfers, the yield and Buy Now, Pay Maybe's surprise free purchases.
The recurring complaints are slow or missing replies from support, sign-up screens that freeze or hide the Continue button (some iPhone users couldn't get past the SSN step), repeated identity checks that hold up small balances, and people learning their country can't get the card only after they've deposited. Check the availability lists before you add money.
Who should get it, and who should skip it
Get it if you live in a covered country, want dollars you control with a card on top, and spend mostly in dollars, especially in the US, where the card is fee-free. Through our invite, five ordinary purchases earn the $10 voucher.
Skip it if you're in an excluded country or US state, if most of your spending is in other currencies abroad (up to 2% a purchase adds up), if you want a bank account with deposit insurance, or if you'd rather not be responsible for your own recovery phrase.
