Startale Card Waitlist Review: Is a Place in the Queue Worth It?
The Startale Card waitlist reviewed: what the self-custodial Visa card promises, how STAR Points and referrals set your rank, what Startale hasn't published yet, what climbing the queue costs and who should reserve.
Last updated 24 October 2026

Best for
People who already use a self-custodial wallet on Soneium or Ethereum and are happy to hold a free reservation for a card whose countries, fees and launch date aren't announced yet.
Reserve, don't chase. Joining is free: sign up through our link with code KNEJGM36, tap Reserve Your Card and verify your email, and you hold a place in a queue of more than 200,000 reservations. What you get is earlier access, not money; STAR Points have no cash value. The card itself is promising, a Visa debit card that spends stablecoins from a wallet you control and pays cashback in USDSC, but Startale hasn't named the issuer or published the countries, fees, cashback rate or launch date. Until it does, buying or bridging crypto just to climb the rank means paying for a product you can't price yet.
Pros

What the Startale Card is
Startale Group announced the Startale Card in Tokyo on 13 July 2026: a Visa debit card that spends stablecoins from a wallet you control, at more than 150 million Visa merchants. Startale is the Singapore-based company behind the Startale App and Soneium, the Ethereum layer 2 it developed with Sony. Cashback is paid in USDSC, Startale's dollar stablecoin native to Soneium, and eligible assets keep earning yield until the moment you spend them.
Startale doesn't issue the card itself. Its app terms say Startale-branded debit cards come from one or more third-party issuers, and that Startale only provides the interface. Behind the card sits a separate Card Linked Wallet: you set a target balance, the app tops it up automatically from your main Startale wallet, and a hold contract locks funds while a payment settles. On 24 October 2026 the card had more than 200,000 reservations and was still waitlist-only.
How the waitlist works
Reserving takes under a minute: open the Startale App, tap Reserve Your Card, verify your email and you're in. Your rank decides the order in which people get the card, and two things set it: your STAR Points balance and the number of friends you've referred who completed their own reservation. Starting positions came from a STAR Points snapshot on 7 July 2026, and ranks refresh daily.
Use a real email you'll keep. Startale can disqualify reservations made with fake, disposable, duplicate or inaccessible addresses, or move them down the queue, even after the campaign ends, and its revised ranking is final. Each person gets one smart account; a second needs a fresh sign-up with another email.
Our code, and what we get from it
Our link opens Startale's sign-up page with code KNEJGM36 already attached. Startale doesn't advertise a joining bonus for invited users: what you get is the reservation itself and whatever STAR Points you earn in the app. Using the code costs you nothing.
Disclosure: KNEJGM36 is our own code. Once your reservation is complete it counts as a confirmed referral for us, which moves our own place in the queue, and Startale credits referrers with 10% of the STAR Points their friends earn, up to 200 a month.
STAR Points: how you earn them
Since 30 July 2026 the daily GM check-in pays 10 points for every 10 check-ins, about 30 a month. Monthly missions add around 100 to 150 points; October's run, from 22 October to 25 November 2026, pays up to 200 for bridging USDC to Soneium through the app's deposit address and for keeping at least 25 USDSC in an Earn vault for 14 days in a row. Each mission counts once per person, and points arrive within 72 hours.
Liquidity earns 0.0025 points per dollar per day from a $10 minimum, with a multiplier that rises from 1x to 2x after 151 days. STAR Points have no cash value: Startale's terms say they can't be transferred, redeemed for money or used outside the Startale App, and that Startale can change how they're calculated at its sole discretion.
What climbing the queue costs: a worked example
Free activity outranks money here. A month of daily check-ins (about 30 points) plus the missions (100 to 150, or up to 200 in October) gives roughly 130 to 180 points. Parking $1,000 as liquidity for the same 30 days earns 75 (1,000 × 0.0025 × 30), and even at the full 2x multiplier, after five months, it earns 150 a month.
The rules also move. Startale's July rebalance cut the rate for long-held liquidity by about three quarters: a $4,000 position held for 241 days went from 80 points a day to 20. Bridge or deposit only what you'd hold on Soneium anyway, and treat any rank you buy as something Startale can reprice.
Self-custody: how the wallet works
The Startale App creates a smart account (an account-abstraction wallet) that replaces the recovery phrase with a passkey or a Google or LINE login; you can also connect an existing wallet such as MetaMask and move funds between the two. It supports Ethereum and Soneium, with assets such as ETH, USDC and USDSC, plus the JPYSC yen stablecoin in the Japan Edition.
Startale's terms are blunt about custody: your wallet is under your exclusive control, neither Startale nor its wallet providers store or can recover your private keys, seed phrase or password, and the social login is only an authentication layer. If you lose your passkey or login, you may lose access to the wallet. Smart contracts, including the card's hold contract, aren't controlled by Startale, which takes no responsibility for their security.
Fees, limits and what isn't published yet
As of 24 October 2026 Startale hadn't published the card issuer's name, the country list, annual, FX or ATM fees, the cashback rate, the yield rate or a launch date. Its Japanese announcement says regions, launch timing, features and conditions will be set step by step under each country's laws.
The app terms already set the frame: you pay all fees on the card; Startale can introduce its own fees on top of the issuer's, with advance notice; it can set your spending limit at its sole discretion, down to US$0; and the issuer, Visa or a regulator can have your card restricted. Getting the card will need identity (KYC) and anti-money-laundering checks, carried out for the issuer.
Who runs it, and what protects you
The Startale App is operated by Startale Labs (BVI) Ltd, which says it doesn't carry on any regulated virtual asset service or investment business; the group is headquartered at 105 Cecil Street in Singapore. Stablecoins in a self-custodial wallet aren't bank deposits, so there's no deposit insurance behind your balance.
You must be 18 or over. Disputes are governed by British Virgin Islands law and go to arbitration at the BVI International Arbitration Centre, in English, as individual claims only, with no class actions. Startale screens against UN, BVI, Singapore, Japan, UK and US sanctions, can geo-block access, and forbids hiding your location through a proxy or any other method.
What users run into
There's no app-store rating to go by: the Startale App is a web app for desktop and mobile browsers, and Startale says a native app isn't available yet.
The friction shows up in Startale's own rules. Points formulas change, as July's rebalance showed. Missions are strict about routes: USDC sent straight to your app address, bridged to a separate wallet or already on Soneium doesn't count, and can't be credited afterwards. Email checks can lower a rank after a campaign ends. And the Japan Edition, offered automatically to users in Japan, has features the global edition doesn't.
Who should reserve, and who should skip it
Reserve if you already hold stablecoins or use Soneium, you'd like a self-custodial Visa card when it reaches your country, and a free place in the queue is all you want for now. Doing the free check-ins, and the missions you'd do anyway, is a sensible way to move up.
Skip it, or just reserve and wait, if you need a card to spend with now, if you'd be buying or bridging crypto only to climb the rank, or if you want to see the fees and country list before committing anything. A crypto card that's live today will serve you better than a queue.
FAQ
- Does joining the Startale Card waitlist pay anything?
- No cash, tokens or points for joining. You get a place in the queue; the STAR Points you earn in the app improve it but have no cash value.
- Which code should I use?
- KNEJGM36. Our link attaches it to Startale's sign-up page; it's our own code.
- How is my place in the queue decided?
- By your STAR Points balance and the number of friends who completed their own reservation through your link. Starting positions came from a 7 July 2026 snapshot, and ranks update daily.
- When and where will the card launch?
- Startale hasn't published a date or a country list. It says regions, timing and conditions will be set country by country under local law.
- Who issues the Startale Card?
- A third-party issuer Startale hasn't named yet. Startale provides the app and interface; the issuer approves, declines and closes cards.
- Do I need to verify my identity to reserve?
- No, an email is enough to reserve. The card itself will need KYC and anti-money-laundering checks for the issuer.
- What are STAR Points worth?
- Nothing in money. They can't be transferred, sold or redeemed, and only count inside the Startale App, for things like waitlist rank and campaigns.
- Is there a Startale app on the App Store or Google Play?
- No. The Startale App runs in the browser on desktop and mobile; Startale says a native app isn't available yet.
